SACRAMENTO–A bipartisan group of nine legislators signed a statement in response to Governor Gavin Newsom’s proposal (AB 1054) to stabilize the utility markets that acknowledges the importance of ensuring reliable, affordable power to our communities, but points out that the proposal ignores absolutely critical components of a solution – prevention and preparedness.

SACRAMENTO–Both the Assembly and Senate voted on the state budget today.

SACRAMENTO–In the state budget soon to be sent to Governor Gavin Newsom for his signature is $9.25 million to support the Atmospheric Rivers Research, Mitigation, and Climate Forecasting Program in the Department of Water Resources (DWR), funding originally requested by AB 557, a bill by Assemblymember Jim Wood (D-Santa Rosa).

SACRAMENTO–Last week Assemblymember Jim Wood (D-Santa Rosa) moved several of his key bills through the Assembly, allowing the bills to be considered in the Senate as early as in the next few weeks.

SACRAMENTO–Today the Assembly Appropriations Committee reported that AB 890 by Assemblymember Jim Wood (D-Santa Rosa), which would provide full practice authority to nurse practitioners, will become a two-year bill, postponing any further action this first year of the two-year legislative session.

“I’m extremely disappointed that my highest priority health care bill didn’t make it out of the Appropriations Committee today,” said Wood, who chairs the Assembly Health Committee. “After all, with other legislation, we’re expanding coverage to more people, and that’s absolutely what we should be doing, but at the same time we’re not expanding the number of health care professionals to provide the care.
