SACRAMENTO, CA – Chris Rogers (D-Santa Rosa) was officially sworn in yesterday as the newest Assemblymember for California’s 2nd Assembly District in a ceremony held at the State Capitol in Sacramento. Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas (D-Salinas) administered the oath, marking the beginning of Rogers’ term representing the diverse counties of Del Norte, Humboldt, Mendocino, Sonoma, and Trinity.

“I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve this incredible district,” said Rogers. “So many in our community are struggling – between a high cost of living, expensive housing, and the impact of climate-driven disasters, the California dream feels unattainable. I’m excited to get to work to help realize the promise of this great state.”

A Seasoned Leader in Public Service
Chris Rogers brings a wealth of experience to the State Assembly, having served as a Santa Rosa City Councilmember and previously as Mayor. He has held leadership positions in various non-profit and community organizations and has been a strong advocate for affordable housing, public safety, and economic resilience. With his extensive background in public service, a passion for environmental justice, and a commitment to uplifting marginalized communities, Rogers is well-prepared to champion the issues most important to his constituents.

A Proven Advocate for Sonoma County
Throughout his career, Rogers has steadfastly advocated for sustainable urban planning, climate action, and enhancing local infrastructure. His work has included expanding access to affordable housing, developing mental health initiatives, and supporting small businesses in recovery from the economic impacts of wildfires and the COVID-19 pandemic. As a collaborative leader, he has prioritized working closely with stakeholders to address the unique challenges facing his district.

Born and raised in the district, Chris Rogers attended the University of California in Santa Barbara and received a bachelor’s degree in political science. Soon after, he attended Sonoma State University and received a second degree in Public Affairs, focusing on budget administration. He has dedicated his life to serving his community and resides with his wife and son in the district.
