SACRAMENTO–Today Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 1088 by Assemblymember Jim Wood (D-Santa Rosa), a bill that will protect low-income seniors turning 65 and people with disabilities from a loophole in existing law that results in their losing access to Medi-Cal coverage.
SACRAMENTO–Governor Gavin Newsom recently signed AB 109 and SB 109, which in part provides $1.5 million in aid to Sonoma County for the devastation left behind from the 2019 Russian River Flood.
“My request for these funds came after visiting the Guerneville community earlier this year and seeing the damage caused by this flood,” said Assemblymember Jim Wood (D-Santa Rosa). “The damage, although devastating, did not rise to the level that qualified for federal assistance from FEMA for individual homeowners, so something had to be done to help.”
SACRAMENTO–Today Assemblymember Jim Wood (D-Santa Rosa) voted to support AB 1054, a bill to stabilize the utility markets which acknowledges the importance of ensuring reliable, affordable power to our communities, and facilitates compensation to victims of the 2017-18 wildfires and protects ratepayers.
SACRAMENTO–A bipartisan group of nine legislators signed a statement in response to Governor Gavin Newsom’s proposal (AB 1054) to stabilize the utility markets that acknowledges the importance of ensuring reliable, affordable power to our communities, but points out that the proposal ignores absolutely critical components of a solution – prevention and preparedness.
SACRAMENTO–Today Assemblymember Jim Wood (D-Santa Rosa) honored Quality Body Works in Eureka as Assembly District 2’s Small Business of the Year at an Awards Luncheon in Sacramento. Owner, Dave Creech, and his son Ross, received an Assembly Resolution recognizing their business and contributions to their community.
SACRAMENTO–Both the Assembly and Senate voted on the state budget today.
“There is a lot to be proud of in this budget,” said Assemblymember Jim Wood (D-Santa Rosa). “This budget continues paying down debt, adds to reserves and is a fiscally responsible budget that will help many more Californians.”
SACRAMENTO–In the state budget soon to be sent to Governor Gavin Newsom for his signature is $9.25 million to support the Atmospheric Rivers Research, Mitigation, and Climate Forecasting Program in the Department of Water Resources (DWR), funding originally requested by AB 557, a bill by Assemblymember Jim Wood (D-Santa Rosa).
