(Sacramento) - Currently, there are few environmental regulations for medical marijuana growers, which have caused unimaginable environmental damages to the North Coast region of the State. Realizing this, Assemblymember Jim Wood (D-Healdsburg) wrote the Marijuana Watershed Protection Act (Assembly Bill 243) creates a regulatory structure around a product that has never been regulated. AB 243 requires all nine Regional Water Quality Control Boards in California to develop environmental protections to address wastewater discharges from medical marijuana farms.
