(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Jim Wood (D-Healdsburg) announced that the Assembly’s 2018/19 budget proposal will include a $1 billion investment in California’s health care system. This proposal includes hundreds of millions of dollars in assistance for middle class families that struggle to afford health care. “After many months of work in the Select Committee, and our research and analysis on the cost of health care in the State, we are here to tell you that we can improve health care for all Californians, especially those who may feel the pinch of the cost of health care premiums,” Assemblymember Wood said. “In this package we have provided a pathway for those hardworking middle income families who have struggled to pay their health care premiums by creating refundable tax credits and extending premium assistance to more people who buy their healthcare though Covered California.
